Highlights from the Muscat Municipality Design Competition 2025 Awards Ceremony, held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Kamil Fahad Mahmood Al-Said.

This event marked the conclusion of a pioneering initiative to establish a distinctive architectural landmark in the heart of the Muscat Governorate — a vision driven by excellence, collaboration, and urban ambition.

The ceremony opened with remarks from H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Humaidi, Mayor of Muscat, who welcomed guests and reaffirmed the city’s commitment to design-led urban development. The Head of the Jury followed with a recap of Day 1, praising both the quality of the proposals and the outstanding organization of the competition. All five finalist studios were congratulated for their creativity, professionalism, and contribution to Muscat’s future.

Awarded Proposals

🥇 First Prize: KSP ENGEL (Germany)
🥈 Second Prize: BMA – Besian Mehmeti Architects (North Macedonia)
🥉 Third Prize: XDGA – Xaveer De Geyter Architects (Belgium)

Each of the winning proposals offered a unique and powerful interpretation of what a civic building in Muscat can represent — culturally rooted, spatially innovative, and publicly engaging.

The first prize team delivered a live presentation of their project, followed by a group photo and a networking reception that brought together city leaders, architects, and guests in celebration.
